Concrete and the neutral fabric jungle

Am in the midst of three sewing projects at the moment (2 quilts, 1 work skirt), despite being out of town for a couple of days and not yet having made up to the Kitten the attention I deprived her of while being away.

I don't know if I'm projecting or not, but the cat seems most happy when I have the tape measure out and am hard at work on my sewing projects. See below for mess and sewing project (when she's not lazing about she likes to try and pull the pins out of my projects.)

More importantly, I have discovered a wonderful channel on Pandora. Everyone is thoroughly obsessed with the site, I know. But it seems that I get these totally inadequate playlists when I put in current songs I love like Lady Gaga's Paparazzi or anything Justin Bieber. As an experiment, I put in Cracker, that band from the 90s and what I got was this totally depressing playlist of Coldplay and Radiohead. Then to confuse it, I added Rhianna which turned the maudlin playlist into a mess of techno and horribly depressing songs. Absolutely terrible.

So on Sunday I made a new playlist and typed in only Billy Joel, not being a huge Billy Joel fan, just to see what would happen. I have to say, it's been the BEST playlist I could've asked for. It's been full of Journey, Eagles, When in Rome, Cyndi Lauper, Bee Gees, Simon and Garfunkel, Elton John, old Beatles, Paul McCartney and, of course, Billy Joel. Ironically, I've skipped most of the Billy Joel songs, but I've accomplished what I wanted. That is, something I can stand to listen to for more than 45 minutes. Try it!

So back to the concrete jungle and the neutral fabric jungle. Me and two friends hit the Big Apple in a major marathon weekend where we did a myriad of wonderful things, saw bunches of awesome places and experienced new delights, chief among them New York Cannoli. I can't say enough about how delicious these Cannoli were that we had at the San Gennaro festival in Little Italy. Are you waiting for me to refer back to Godfather II here? Oh, you already know.

Amazing!

Found a recipe on epicurious, but haven't tried to make them yet. Because I'm focusing at the moment on.... the neutral fabric jungle blankie. I'm making this for two friends of mine who don't read this blog, so if you know them please don't forward any pictures to them. This is supposed to be a surprise!

I love it so far and I've only made the giraffe (pictured with no eyes) and the elephant (not pictured, but it doesn't have eyes yet, either)

Giraffe!

I am so excited for this! Love it! Will post skirt photos once it doesn't look like a complete disaster with uneven mismatched darts!
