Raise your hand if you're glad it's finally the weekend. (I have mine raised.) This week was a doozy!

Adam and I needed to have a good shaken cocktail last night after a tough Friday full of working.

I think this looks totally throw-back. I have been reading BUtterfield 8 by John O'Hara. It's set during Prohibition, so the characters are always running around to speakeasies and ordering rye and soda. Whatever that is. And there's a fantastic passage about shaking martinis vs. stirring. Old wisdom held that you would break the structure of the alcohol by shaking it. Then they realized that it blended better when shaken. So now we shake.

And the main character Gloria Wandrous, later played by Elizabeth Taylor, has wonderful dialogue which includes the words quarrel, smack-o and darling.

Adam's tipping his glass (see the sewing machine in the back?) It's never far behind.

More martini...

And that's all I got.

Have a great weekend!
